“It all started 15 years ago when two boys were playing outside,” Lea began. “They were playing catch with a baseball and one of them actually threw it in the street.”
“The boy that had thrown the ball didn’t want to go get it. But his friend made him do it anyway.”
Now what does This part have to do with a scarecrow?! thought Ethan
Linda pulled the covers up a bit more. She didn’t like how Lea was making this story sound so scary.
“When the boy got back with the ball, he thought that he had heard something in the bushes,” said Lea.
Just like me and Linda did! thought Ethan.
“Both of the boys kept on playing for a little while, but soon they both heard a sound coming from the bushes. Suddenly something started to came out of them!”
“And what did see you may ask? The hugest, biggest, and scariest thing ever! The haunted scarecrow! The scarecrow started slowly moving towards them, and both boys screamed and ran. But the scarecrow chased them and caught up to them!”
“And what happened to the two boys?” asked Ethan.
“They say that the scarecrow ate them!” Lea said.
“And where is the scarecrow now?” asked Linda.
“Some say that it still haunts this neighborhood!” said Lea.
“Cool!” said Ethan.
“Ethan that’s not cool! That’s disgusting! But why did the scarecrow want to eat those kids up anyway?” Linda asked.
“Some people believe that the scarecrow was attracted to their screaming!” Lea said.
Tenny rolled her eyes. She knew that the story wasn’t real. It had been made up by some kids about five years ago. The story had spread to the whole neighborhood and now most of the neighborhood kids believed the story now. And as for the boring beginning part well, it, was always told that way soooo, everyone, tells it that way?
“Ok, guys I think it’s time to turn the lights back on and get lunch ready,” said Tenny.
“Awwwwww,” said Ethan. “But I like it when the lights are off! It makes the room look scaryer! Perfect for Haloween!”
“Well I can’t make lunch in the dark,” said Tenny.
She got up and turned the lights back on.
“Oh, and by the way,” said Tenny. “I would just Like everyone to know that that story, is not real!”
Everything pretty much went on normal for the next few days.
Lea and Ethan were at their usual video game and Star Wars competitions.
Linda dressed Chocolate up in like a million outfits, and took tons of selfie’s doing it.
And Tenny took advantage of the moments where she had some peace and quite to practice her gaiter and start on a new song.
But these “Normal” days didn’t last long.
“Well…….how do I look?” asked Lea.
“Wow Lea! Your costume looks great! Where did you get it?” asked Linda.
“Mom made it for me! I glad she was able to finish it in time for Halloween. Where’s Ethan and Tenny? Or should I say, Elsa and Luke Skywalker?” Lea asked grinning.
“Ha ha ha, their still getting ready. But me and Chocolate are ready, aren’t we Chocolate?” asked Linda.
“Now who is she supposed to be again?” asked Lea.
“Sven,” said Linda.
“Who’s Sven?” Lea asked.
“The reindeer in Frozen. And what was the name of your character again? All I remember is that it kinda sounded like Lea,” Linda said.
“Princess Leia, from Star Wars,” said Lea.
“Hey, I’m going to go back upstairs real quick, and get Chocolate a snack,” said Linda.
“Ok,” Lea said.
Once everyone was ready, Tenny handed out the Trick-or-Treating baskets.
“Ok, so Mom said that we can only go around the small block by ourselves. If we want to go anywhere else in the neighborhood, we’ll have to wait until Mom’s family’s party is over so she can walk with us,” said Tenny. “Also we have to stay together.”
“Awwwwww, come on, we’re not babies! We can look after ourselves, right guys?” asked Ethan.
He looked over at Lea and Linda.
Both of them looked back at him unsure.
“Well, I can,” Ethan said proudly.
Tenny frowned. “Ethan, Mom want’s us to stay together and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Ethan just rolled his eyes.
And if you’re wondering, things did go pretty well…….at first.
They had already stopped at about ten houses when Linda started to notice that Ethan didn’t look like he was having very much fun.
“Are you ok Ethan?” Linda asked.
“Yes,” Ethan grumbled.
“Are you upset that we can’t go to Mrs. Smith’s house until later?” asked Linda.
“Partly,” said Ethan.
Mrs. Smith was a lady who lived on the other side of the neighborhood, who always gave the best treats for Halloween. And the best part, was that all of her treats were homemade! Everyone in the neighborhood knew that if you’re going Trick-or-Treating, you need to stop at her house!
“But it’s not just that I’m upset about! I wanted to start looking for the haunted scarecrow tonight! Without, Lea and Tenny,” he added.
Linda nodded. “Well, I would suggest that we sneak away from them, but you know what Mom said.”
“Yeah…..Hang on a second! Mom did say that we had to stay together, but did she say Who had to stay together?” Ethan asked grinning.
“But, are you really sure it’s ok if we leave? I mean, what if we get in trouble?” asked Linda.
“Don’t worry, we won’t,” said Ethan. “Now here’s the plan…….”
“So I guess Ethan decided not to be Prince Charming for your play huh?” Lea asked grinning.
“No, he said that he would rather be someone important like Luke Skywalker!” Tenny said laughing.
“Yeah, I had a feeling that would happen. Have you gotten any of those surprise boxes yet? I already got three of them,” said Lea.
“I got two at the Matthews’s house earlier. But I gave one of them to Linda,” said Tenny.
“Oh, that was nice of you,” said Lea. “Wait a minute, where is Linda?”
Both girls looked around.
“And it’s not just Linda! Ethan’s gone too!” Tenny cried.
